NUMERICAL STUDY OF OBLIQUE COLLISION OF A VORTEX RING WITH A HEATED WALL
Abstract: A numerical simulation is performed for a vortex ring impacting a heated wall at an angle of incidence θ=〖38.5〗^o and Re=1389. The simulation is performed to study the effect on the heat transfer rate due to change in vortex ring structure after it collides with heated wall. It is found that the value of local Nusselt number reaches maximum when region of the ring nearest to the wall is subjected to vortex stretching.

NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF ICED WING PERFORMANCE
Abstract: The present study analyses the effect on aerodynamic performance (Lift and drag coefficients) of NACA 64-008A aerofoil when horn ice is located at 20 degree angle at the leading edge of aerofoil. Coefficient of lift (Cl) and coefficient of drag (Cd) were calculated for angle of attacks from 0 to 4o in increment of 1o using ANSYS FLUENT software. Horn ice configuration reveals that the horn (ice) produces large separated regions about the aerofoil’s leading edge at higher angle of attacks.

COMPUTATIONAL STUDY OF HEAD-ON COLLISION OF TWO CO-AXIAL VORTEX RINGS OVER A HEATED PLATE
Abstract: This paper provides the CFD analysis to study the effect of head-on collision of two counter rotating vortex rings over a heated plate and the effect of vortex ringlets on the local heat transfer distribution. When two vortex rings collides head on approaching a heated plate then it results in the increase of Nusselt number and thereby increasing the rate of heat transfer. This results in the transfer of the momentum and energy.

Abstract: Machine tool gear box design is the multi-step analytical procedure converging towards the optimum gear box design. MATLAB programming technique is applied to automate the manual machine tool gear box design process with a greater accuracy & less time. Benefits of the MATLAB programming in design modification are justified. Spur gear design optimization technique, Altered Tooth-sum gearing is included. The proposed design is also validated with CAE tool Ansys.

ATTENUATION OF FLOW SEPARATION IN A NACA 8410 TURBINE CASCADE USING GURNEY FLAPS
Abstract: The effect of Gurney Flaps on a NACA 8410 turbine cascade with a blade angle of 30o has been numerically studied. The Flaps were at an angle of 45o with respect to the blade chord. The performance of the cascade at different inflow angles was evaluated with Gurney Flaps of sizes 1% and 2% of the blade chord. The Gurney Flaps increased the lift produced and casued a significant delay in the flow separation. The flaps also induced an increase in the exit Mach number and the flow turning angle.

ACOUSTIC ANALYSIS FOR EFFECT OF EXTENDED INLET AND EXTENDED OUTLET TUBE ON TRANSMISSION LOSS OF SINGLE EXPANSION CHAMBER REACTIVE MUFFLER
Abstract: Muffler is a device used to reduce noise within the exhaust system. In the present work, an attempt has been made to study the effect of extended Inlet and Outlet elements in Single Expansion Chamber reactive muffler on the muffler’s capacity of noise reduction (i.e. Transmission loss). The acoustic behaviour of the muffler is investigated in detail by: (1) the finite element method by using COMSOL Multi-Physics, (2) and Experimental validation by using Two Load Method.

SINUSOIDAL TRACKING ALGORITHM BASED VOLTAGE ORIENTED CONTROL OF HARMONIC LESS RECTIFIER
Abstract: This paper analyses the operation of rectifier using Sinusoidal Tracking Algorithm (STA). The algorithm is simple and capable of extracting fundamental component. Better current waveform, harmonic less operation, unity power factor, DC link voltage regulation is obtained. Hysteresis Current Controller is used for gate pulse generation. The proposed approach is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results are presented, which shows validation of proposed control strategy.

EXPERIMENTAL ANALYSIS OF 100 KG CAPACITY PLASTIC PYROLYSIS PLANT BY USING VANADIUM PENTOXIDE (V2O5) AS A CATALYST
Abstract: In this paper, the details of pyrolysis process for each type of plastics and the main process parameters that influenced the final product such as oil, gaseous are presented.The catalytic process involved staged catalysis with the aim of maximizing the conversion of the waste plastic to gasoline range hydrocarbons. The oil obtained by pyrolysis process having chemical properties similar as per diesel. The volume of reactor was predicted to process 100kg of plastics.

THERMAL ANALYSIS OF SOLAR AIR HEATER USING POROUS MEDIA AND RIBS
Abstract: Solar air heater is one of the valuable heat source. The objective of current study is to enhance heat transfer coeffi of SAH. Experimentation has been carried out on SAH consisting SAH with smooth plate, SAH with Porous media, porous media assisted SAH with ribs. Results for Nusselt number, Friction Factor obtained from experimentation were validated using CFD software. It is found that use of porous media and ribs increases thermal performance of SAH compare to smooth plate SAH.

OPERATION OF SENSORLESS PMSM DRIVE WITH MRAS BASED ESTIMATION
Abstract: A model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based speed estimator has been used to achieve the sensorless operation of PMSM drive at low and zero speed. In MRAS based estimator PMSM itself used as reference model and current model is used as adjustable model. The method is free from integrator problem and good performance at low speed, independent of stator resistance so less sensitive to parameter. The method is implemented in MATLAB, simulation results show the validity of presented scheme.

GENERATION SCHEDULING AND POWER MANAGEMENT OF PEDALING SYSTEM WITH SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM
Abstract: A clean and environment friendly electric power generation with consideration of pedal system and solar energy system is introduced in this paper. The effectiveness of methodology presented here is experimentally verified on the GBPS and obtained energy output is integrated with SPV system. For smooth operation of mechanism a 1:30, turn-ratio gear box is used. A 50 kWp SPV system with GBPS considered in this work. This is a good alternative for the electric power generation with zero emission.

Abstract: The present study deals with the utilization of eggshell and fruit peels for effective growth of the plant. HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT IN ROUND TUBE FITTED WITH VARIOUS CONFIGURATIONS OF CIRCULAR RINGS
In this paper,the effect of various arrangements of circular rings on heat transfer rate in a circular tube was studied with air as working fluid.The tube was fitted with ring inserts of different arrangements as diverging sections,converging sections, converging-diverging sections and inserts with same rings. The highest overall performance factor of 1.26 was obtained for an insert with circular ring of 30% flow blockage area at Re 6,000.

Abstract: Green Concrete is a resource-saving structure that reduces environmental impact, carbon dioxide emissions, and waste water. Here comparative evaluation of strength and durability properties of conventional concrete and green concrete incorporating recycled coarse aggregates and fly ash. In the laboratory total of three series of concrete mixtures were prepared. Series I, II and III were prepared with the water to cement (W/C) ratio of 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 respectively.

Abstract: Use of biogas energy can reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and other energy sources. Biogas production is affected by seasonal variations and it can be enhanced by digester heating. Use of solar energy for digester heating can thus bring about the utilization of two renewable energy sources. This paper presents information about the methods of digester heating for getting improved biogas production. The design of an active solar heating system for digester heating is also presented.

This paper aims at designing and fabrication of material handling equipment i.e. MIG MAG welding machine carrier unit for the locomotive workshop. Carrier unit should ease the handling, reduce cost and ensure the safety of the user. A unit has to be designed such that it can be moved to all the corners of the workshop. The carrier unit comprises of inverter, wire feeder, arrangement of two gas cylinders and various accessories. Lightweight material is used for fabrication of the carrier unit.

Abstract: Cold drawing for production of seamless tubes is widely used and Springback is one the defect occurring in it.In this work optimized parameters to minimize springback viz.,reduction ratio, die semi angle,land width and drawing speed through Design of Experiments and microstructural investigations are obtained which are 10-15 % reduction ratio,15 degree die semi angle,10 mm land width and 8 m/min drawing speed for ST 52 tube material and AISI D3 die-plug material.

OPTIMIZATION OF RESERVOIR OPERATION – A CASE STUDY OF UDUTHOREHALLA RESERVOIR IN INDIA
Abstract: The Linear Programming (LP) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) have been used in the present study for the reservoir operation of Uduthorehalla Project, located in Cauvery Basin in Karnataka, India. The annual reservoir yields are computed using LP and GA techniques. The effect of linear and non-linear relationship of reservoir storage and water surface area on reservoir yield is assessed. The 100% and 75% reliable yields are obtained for the present reservoir system using LP and GA.

Abstract: The estimation of electric power consumption is an integral part of power generation economics and is critical to optimization of cost of production of electricity, since it allows demand matching for optimized generation of electricity. The present paper augments a simple regression-based scheme with a predictive machine-learning based piecewise linear slope-estimation technique for more accurate estimates, which is further modified to compensate for initialization error.

Review & qualitative assessment of biodiesel as an alternative fuel for bus transport
Abstract: This article provides a state of art review on international research and practices on biodiesel usage for transport and the national policy of biofuels – 2018 by the Government of India. A qualitative assessment of biofuels based on twenty indicators has been performed. The findings conclude that at this point of time the use of biodiesel for bus transport in India poses numerous challenges and is not feasible at the scale of urban bus transit operation.

The fuel cells are clean and efficient mode of energy generation which directly converts chemical energy into electrical energy. Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) obstructs its applicability because of its high operating temperature and unstable performance at normal operating conditions. Thus, in the present investigation attempt has been made to enhance the performance SOFC electrolyte by forming the composites of SDC and GDC at low temperature.

STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCE STUDY OF DOPED SDC SAMPLES FOR SOFC APPLICATION
High operating temperature (800 to 1000 oC) of SOFC is a main hurdle to reduce cost, material selection and to increase operation time. High electrolyte polarization resistance effectively commands on the operating temperature of whole solid oxide fuel cell. Hence in this work co-doping in ceria electrolyte (SDC) was successfully achieved to polarization resistance and increases the oxygen (O2-) ion conductivity at low temperature.

To provide emergency services to patients by reaching hospitals in time,a Drone based system is proposed to clear route with reference to available traffic data.This system is able to clear road traffic by 50%. It will help the emergency Vehicles to reach faster and can extend services to patients. This in turn saves human life in metropolitan cities. Response time of conventional fire combat needs to be reduced.The time lag to identify and initiate actuation protocol is compromised.The arrival of fire brigade further reduces the damage.An efficient fire combat system is design and developed to reduce problems.This system extinguishes fire before it reaches its destructive level and eliminates flaws by raising an alarm.Further 70% accuracy is achieved to detect fire with image processing techniques.The response time of system is 2-4 sec.

Ultrasonic welding is the most widely used and fastest known welding technique for joining thermoplastic materials. The process uses ultrasonic energy at high frequencies (20-40 kHz) to produce low amplitude (1-25m) mechanical vibrations. These vibrations generate heat at the joint interface of the parts being welded, resulting in melting of the thermoplastic materials and after cooling weld formation takes place.

KINETIC STUDY ON ADSORPTION OF COPPER USING GRAPHENE OXIDE (GO)
In this paper batch removal of Copper from aqueous solutions by Graphene Oxide (GO) was investigated. The batch experiments were conducted to study the adsorption kinetics of cu removal for the concentration of 10 mg/L cu solution. Batch mode experiments were carried out as a function of adsorbent dosage and contact time. Maximum percentage of Copper removal was found to be 80 % at 4.5 gms of adsorbent. SEM, TEM, FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy were done.

This study elucidates the properties of different sodium potassium niobate based lead free piezoceramics prepared by solid state reaction method. The lead free piezoceramic with optimum properties is utilized to fabricate a vibration energy harvesting set up. The output voltage generated by the module was found to be dependent on the ‘g’ force experienced by the module and frequency of vibration.

POLING ENGINEERING OF SODIUM POTASSIUM NIOBATE BASED LEAD-FREE PIEZOCERAMICS
The influence of poling conditions on the crystal structure,dielectric and piezoelectric properties of (Na0.495K0.455Li0.05) (Nb0.95Ta0.05)O3 ceramics, prepared using solid state reaction route, has been reported. The piezoelectric properties were found to be affected substantially by poling condition. Optimum piezoelectric properties with the lowest aging rate and good thermal stability up to 120 ºC was found in samples sintered at 1140 ºC and poled at 120 ºC poling temperature.

DESIGN AND OPTIMISATION OF AQUA-SILENCER
An aqua-silencer is a device which uses activated carbon and water of lime to not just reduce the emissions but also noise level. It is connected at the exhaust of the engine. When gases pass through the system, the activated charcoal absorbs most of it and the remaining reacts with the lime water and hence emissions are reduced. As sound is less audible in liquid medium hence noise level is also reduced in the system. It is economic, easy to maintain and a sustainable device.

This review paper deals with the preparation and characterization of nanocomposites of poly(ether ether ketone) (PEEK) containing various fillers like silicon nitride (Si3N4) aluminum oxide (Al2O3) and aluminium nitride (AlN) fillers. Thermogravimetric analysis showed enhanced thermal stability and char yield on increasing the filler content. The results show that the PEEK nanocomposites may have potential applications in electronics.
